Narcan


Narcan is the brand name for Naloxone. Naloxone is a medication that reverses an opioid overdose. Narcan is administered as a nasal spray and can save a person’s life when experiencing an opioid overdose. Narcan isn’t a substitute for medical care. A person experiencing an opioid overdose should still be taken to emergency care.

Narcan is safe to use and will not harm the person even if they are not suffering from an opioid overdose.

Signs of an opioid overdose

  • Trouble breathing
  • Unconsciousness
  • Dozing off/trouble staying awake
  • Gurgling or gasping for air
  • Loss of motor skills
  • Pinpoint pupils
  • Pale or blue skin
  • Vomiting
  • Body goes limp
  • Unable to speak
